Why this coast is hard on plumbing
The 1894-surveyed grid, streets like Steel, Collier and Cowlishaw, carries clay drainage that has spent a century in shifting sandy ground. Those old pipes have twisted and come apart at the joints, which is why drains here block in ways inland drains never do.
